Does Your Child Hate Reading?

Have you ever had this problem where when you ask your child to read a book and when you leave for 5 minutes and come back again there your child is playing on the phone or getting distracted doing something else.

So, why does your child do this? Well one of the first reasons is because they are not interested in the material or subject that they are reading.

Reading or doing something that is not in your interest can always be boring and that usually is what the children feel. So, a way to train your child to start getting into reading is to give him a material that is so interesting that it be resisted so he can build the interest in reading.

The second reason is sometimes when they read, they will get lost in the sentences and forgot what have they just read. A lot of students that struggle with reading don’t understand what they are reading most of the time.

They usually miss the important point when they read and does not create a mental reference. Without a mental reference, the words have no meaning and after reading all of it, it just disappears.

Another reason is because they can’t read as fast and as good as their peers and thus making them feel left alone and this feeling slowly starts developing into a feeling that dislike reading

. One way to avoid this is to allow students to read at their own pace, even if the slower classmates don’t cover as much ground as their quicker classmates. When they can read at their own pace and gain their confidence, they will start to love reading.

Here at KLC, we have our Mastery Key program to help children develop an interest in reading, spelling, writing, speaking with confidence. We only have 4 students per class and classes and activity are followed by each individual students pace so they can learn and adapt better in their own way and time.
